Chakra Fairies Series

These artworks reflect my cancer healing journey through mind-body visualisation.

This series of three artworks, symbolise the interconnected energy flow within our mind/body — the chakra system — and the organs, emotions, and life experiences that are connected to these energy centres.

In this series, the ‘Heart Chakra’ artwork encompasses all chakra energy, the ‘Crown Chakra’ artwork encompasses all chakras above the heart (throat, third eye & crown chakras), and the ‘Root Chakra’ artwork encompasses all of the chakras below the heart (solar plexus, sacral & root chakras).

In this series, the large fairy wings represent not only the the Maternal Energy logo - but the caretaking, tinkering, loyal, feminine & masculine nature of fairies, and their guidance in moving energy within the body to and from our heart chakra to be gently released or purposefully restored…bringing us back to balance and equilibrium.

This series is inspired by the colours of our chakras and the shapes interconnected between Mother Earth, nature and the human body. The textures of acrylic paint and oil pastel symbolise the transparent, natural rhythm of moving layers and energy within us, further connecting to nature and the shedding and regenerating cycles of trees. I chose to incorporate oil pastels into these artworks because healing sometimes requires us to reconnect with our inner child, and this medium reminds me of a childlike energy.

The flowing white areas in this series represent new, healing energy, while the black shapes represent old, stagnant energy blocking our path. To acknowledge this old energy that lives within our minds, and therefore our bodies, can be a powerful part of healing — to greet this energy with forgiveness, compassion and gratitude, as it can signify our growth and the need to let go (release) in order to move forward on our path. Or perhaps this energy simply longs to come home — to feel seen, safe and nurtured (restored), embraced by our heart chakra, the maternal centre of our being.
